This is an advanced class -- there will be no instruction in the basics of throwing and glazing. Prerequisite: You must be able to comfortably throw an 6-inch cylinder on the wheel.

This course is an opportunity for students who are interested in setting individual goals. Goals can be based on creating artworks of self-proposed works with support from an instructor. Students will be encouraged to develop a plan for their time in the studio and will be supported in fulfilling that plan throughout the session. Additionally, and per the class’ progress, more advanced wheel and hand building demonstrations will be provided. Attendance is important. Students are expected to bring their own clay tools.

This class is designed to be supportive, hands-on, and fun—no previous experience needed! Come ready to learn, practice, and express your creativity. This class is open to individuals of 13+, if participant is under the age of 18 another registered adult supervisor is required.
  • Beginning & Continuing Pottery

    This course for beginning pottery students as well as students returning for more experience and time in the pottery studio. With the beginners, we’ll go through the basics of using clay, learn hand-building techniques and then learn to throw pieces on the pottery wheel. Next steps will include finishing up your works and trimming pieces as needed to get them ready for bisque firing, glazing and final firing. Instructor will also be available to assist and coach continuing pottery students. Class fee includes 25 lbs. of clay, glazes, and firing fee. Additional clay can be purchased from instructor. If you don't have the basic tools, rent them in class for $5.

Lectures will continue to analyze historical and contemporary paintings to deepen our knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of oil painting.
