  • Caring Youth Awards

    Celebrate youth who have a positive impact on our community! Nominate an outstanding Hopkins Schools student to celebrate their contribution to the community. Nominees must be in grades 7 through 12 and meet one of the following criteria: Live, attend school or volunteer within the Hopkins School District. Volunteer work must be unpaid and not a requirement for a class, a co-curricular program, or an award received through another organization. A Caring Youth takes the initiative to identify a need in the community then volunteers in a way that helps meet that need. The nominee should have some personal passion for the cause for which they are volunteering, and it should be an activity that resulted in the nominee “stretching” themselves beyond their normal comfort zone.   • Charm School

    Charm School will emphasize respect for others and teach children manners and etiquette with a fun, hands-on approach. Your child will learn social etiquette, proper introductions and fine dining skills. Topics to be covered will include: proper behavior at the table, conversation skills, polite behavior in public, and public speaking. Newly learned skills will be practiced with a light snack during camp.

    Kids and their favorite adult will enjoy an evening of fun activities, dancing, photos, refreshments, and games together at the Enchanted Stars Dance. Create unforgettable memories dancing to your favorite beats with music provided by a professional DJ. This event is recommended for kids ages 4-12. Registration Process: Register under one child's name for all attendees.

    Bring the family to the Eisenhower Community Center for an afternoon movie in our auditorium! This is a free event and registration is required. Only water is permitted in the ECC auditorium. Students will require adult supervision. The Little Mermaid will be the live action movie.

    Friday Night Live

    Maximize fun with your friends at this special Friday night event for all 4th and 5th graders. Unleash your game skills with gym games and competitions. Dance the night away with a DJ and enjoy snacks available for purchase. The middle school swimming pool will also be open for swimming! Parents - this event is supervised by Kids & Company professionals and gives your student a great chance to get introduced to the middle school building. Student pick-up is promptly at 8:30! Registration ends at NOON on the day of this event, there will be no admittance at the door without prepayment.
  • Lifeguard Certification

    This FREE comprehensive course is designed to instruct participants in the skills and knowledge needed to become a lifeguard, Following completion of the course youth will be be available to be paid interns for Hopkins Community Ed. While attending the course candidates will learn how to recognize, prevent, and respond quickly to aquatic emergencies. The course also instructs participants in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and First Aid. Participants will receive certifications in the above - certifications will be presented upon completion of attending all class sessions, passing all written exams, water skills and test. Prerequisites: -Participant must be 15-21 years old. Ability to pass pretest. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs. Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds: starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive, feet first or head first to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to surface and swim 20 yards on back with both hands holding object, exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Certifications received upon completion of course objectives and passing score of 80 percent correct on course final written exams. Lifeguard, CPR-PR with AED and First Aid are valid for 2 years. Will need to renew certifications every two years. * Blended Learning Class: a link will be emailed one week prior to class beginning with online class curriculum, email address required.
  • New Youth Instructor Info Session

    Join the Hopkins Community Education Youth Instructor team! In this virtual session, learn the ins and outs of teaching a class to Hopkins youth from start to finish. We will go over how to write a class description, submit your class, how you will be paid, what is involved with a partnership with Hopkins Public Schools and more. This session is perfect for our talented community members to prepare to offer a youth summer camp! This session will be 1 hour. The first 30 minutes will be a presentation followed by 30 minutes of questions. Register to receive the Google Meet link in your confirmation email.
