  • Cell Phones & Parenting

    When your child has a Smartphone there are key things you should know in order to keep them safe and secure. In this class you’ll understand recommended safety settings on popular social media apps, parental apps for your child’s Smartphone, and more! We simplify this complicated technology so that you and your child can use the phone safely without worry. *Please note that the class recording will be sent to all registered students so that they do not have to attend at the exact designated time. Follow-up support is also included from the instructor and students are encouraged to reach out with questions at any time before or after the class has concluded.
  • Charm School

    Charm School will emphasize respect for others and teach children manners and etiquette with a fun, hands-on approach. Your child will learn social etiquette, proper introductions and fine dining skills. Topics to be covered will include: proper behavior at the table, conversation skills, polite behavior in public, and public speaking. Newly learned skills will be practiced with a light snack during camp.
  • Child and Babysitting Safety

    Participants will learn the responsibilities of being a prepared, safe, responsible, and professional babysitter. Topics include supervision, behavior guidance, proper feeding and diapering techniques, personal safety, basic first aid, medical emergencies, fire, and kitchen safety. Dolls, bottles, and diaper supplies will be provided at class for fun hands-on participation. This class is developed by the Health & Safety Institute and approved by the American Pediatrics Association. Class participants receive a certification card and a downloadable handbook.

    It’s hard to overestimate the value of a college education. But, as you know, it can come with a hefty price tag and a considerable amount of debt. While choosing the right college is important, figuring out how to pay for it may be just as important. You can help by financially supporting whatever path your loved one chooses. We want to prepare you to navigate the cost of college without risking your retirement.
  • Come on in and Play!

    Take a break from your day to day routine to come play and learn together with your child in our beautiful classrooms. Your child will have the opportunity to create art, sing, play, and explore new activities guided by a licensed Children's Teacher. ECFE Stay and Play class components include caregiver/child interaction time in the classroom, opportunities to play in our motor room, outside, or gym, an interactive circle for children and caregivers to take part in, and a place to share in the joys and concerns of parenting. Sibling care is not offered for Stay & Plays.

    Comedy Writing: How to Be Funny on Paper and Stage

    Whether you need to make a dull work presentation more lively, mix laughter with learning in the classroom, or ultimately want to write for print/production or perform your own stand up routine, this fast-paced session will show you how to apply humor to all aspects of your life. You will learn the anatomy a joke, how to use your powers of observation to sharpen your wit, write different types of jokes, and use humor to entertain and influence people. Informative handouts for future use are included in class fee. The instructor LeeAnne Krusemark is a former stand-up comedian at places like The Laugh Factory in Hollywood, current author and editor, and a nationwide Professor of Publishing at higher learning institutions, including Harvard Adult Education. The webinar login information will be emailed the day before class.
  • Community Education Scholarship Fund

    Apply for Youth Enrichment Scholarship Scholarship funds have been exhausted for the 2023-2024 school year and the application has been closed. Look for the 2024-2025 application on July 1st. Hopkins Community Ed is dedicated to meeting lifelong learning needs for all Hopkins School District residents and students enrolled in Hopkins Public Schools. All of the scholarship aid available has been contributed by Hopkins families, supportive community members and Hopkins businesses. The amount of scholarship is limited and is intended to serve as a temporary resource. Hopkins Community Education scholarship funds can only be used towards the cost of Hopkins Youth Enrichment classes and Camp Royal Camps (up to 50%). Funds cannot be applied to Adult courses or events. One request per family per season/catalog will be considered. Classes and Camps will be paid at a maximum of 50% not to exceed $50 per catalog/ season per student. Maximum of $150 per year per student.     The Composition in the Landscape Course is a five day course aimed for those who are interested in painting the different environments around us. We will look at how to consider the landscape and ways to suggest depth, light and shadow, texture and color while painting on location as well as in the studio. The course will also look at the urban landscape and provide tools to depicting architecture in tandem with nature to create images that reflect the spaces in which we live.

We’ll walk you through a step-by-step process so that you can get started today!

    Have a Cricut machine but not sure how it works? Come learn the essential functions of this popular cutting tool. Leave class with a simple paper and vinyl project as well as the basic knowledge to start creating custom, professional-looking paper crafts embellished apparel, home décor, and more. $10 supply fee paid to instructor.   • Dance Team Prep

    Are you hoping to represent Hopkins on the dance team someday? We will learn skills and dances in the 3 dance team styles performed at Hopkins, Jazz, Kick and Hip Hop. You’ll work with Ms. Karla, one of the fall dance team coaches, to learn what you’ll need to succeed as a Hopkins Dance Team member. Wear form fitting clothes, any style jazz shoes and put long hair up in a secure ponytail, braid or bun.

    "Every child is an artist!" - Pablo Picasso Campers will create art each day through painting, collage, photography, and more to display in their very own art exhibit. We invite families to join us and explore the gallery at the end of the week.

    Love Disney movies? This class is for you! We will make a Mickey Mouse treat, create our own Disney themed hat or mask, partake in a Disney scavenger hunt and end the week with a Disney movie showing!

    Diaper Bank is provided to families once a month. The number of diapers provided is at the discretion of the Parenting Educator that is meeting with the family and the supply that we have.
