  • ECFE HUG Story Time

    For families with children ages birth - 36 months, new to ECFE, or new to the Hopkins Community. Free HUG Story Time! Registration Required Helping Us Grow (HUG) and Hopkins Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) invite you and your family to join us for free take home snacks and story time for kids! A chance to visit with other parents with infants (birth-36months). Enjoy story and playtime with children and discuss literacy and child development with licensed teachers. Older siblings are welcome. Choose a new, free book for each child to take home.   • Elementary Events

    Lead by a Parent Educator, we will explore Sibling Relationships, Teaching Your Child To Speak Up for Themselves, Playful Parenting, Stress and Family Self Care in four events with our Kindergarten-Sixth grade Elementary Parents. All Events will be virtual meetings, and the Google Meet will be sent in your registration confirmation. Sibling Relationships- Oct 14. 21- Siblings have had a lot of time together over the past year and half, and this has been a source of joy and a challenge--more time to play and form relationships and more time to have conflict. We will talk about how the pandemic has impacted sibling relationships and look at tools and strategies for creating strong sibling relationships while encouraging each child's individual gifts and strengths. Teaching Your Child To Speak Up for Themselves- Oct 28, 21- Learning to speak up for yourself and assert wants and needs is an important skill for children as they navigate social relationships and school. We will look at ways we can foster assertive, clear communicators, and support our children with their social emotional development. Playful Parenting- Nov 11, 21- One of the easiest ways to connect to our children is through play. We will discuss different ways to incorporate playfulness into your family dynamic to decrease stress, increase happiness and find new ways to communicate with your family. Stress and Family Self Care- Nov 18, 21- Take an hour to reflect on how to create more mindful moments in your family's routine to decrease stress and promote more self-care. Parenting and family life can be stressful. You will leave with new tools to bring calm into your family life.
  • Fall/Winter ECFE Multiples

    Based on guidance from MDH and our school district, our indoor activities will allow up to 10 families and this will consist of one adult with one child. The outdoor classes will be limited to 10 families, and will also consist of one adult with one child (this doesn't apply to families of multiples). During all in-person activities we ask that you manage your own movements and those of your child to maintain reasonable distance from others. Adults are required to wear a nose and mouth covering mask at all times during class until further notice. Families with Multiple!! Discounted rates for families with multiples. ECFE class components include: These are in-person classes where you can spend time in a classroom, outside, and in the gym with your child. The parent discussion component is structured to be a gradually separating experience for both you and your child. Focusing on the many social and emotional age appropriate developmental skills that your children might be experiencing. Children's teachers will provide an engaging STEAM focused activity and interactive circle times. Your child will be exposed to literary skills, art, science, Math literacy, social emotional learning, and more! Your class will also have a gradually separating parent discussion. Sibling care will be offered on a first come first served basis for children between ages 6 months -5 years of age.
  • No Such Thing as Bad Weather

    An all-weather outdoor class focusing on playing and learning together as a family. This class will encourage children to explore and take risks regardless of the weather. We will focus on the parent role in supporting children’s creative play. Each class will have weather-themed outdoor activities, followed by a circle time and parent discussion on raising happy, healthy and resilient children. Class is rain or shine!
