Join in the fun of this approachable and informative wine education series, hosted by wine expert and certified Sommelier Shar Peterson, General Manager of The Vine Room and The Vine Shop. Participate in classes a la carte, or purchase all five for the full experience!
Class #1: Wine 101- Meeting a New Wine // Welcome to the first of five classes designed to make learning about wine fun and approachable! Led by The Vine Room's Wine Whisperer and certified Sommelier, Shar Peterson, you'll be introduced to foundational wine terms while learning how to meet [and taste!] a glass of vino.
Class #2: In the Vineyard // Class #2 in this five-part series will focus on how the nuances that make up a vineyard – soil, elevation, wind, water, and more – help influence the juice that ends up in a glass. It's farming at its finest! Get ready to learn and taste!
Class #3: In the Winery // Class #3 of this five-part series will delve into the inner workings of a winery. By the end of the session, you'll have a deeper appreciation for how each decision made by a winemaker influences the flavors of the wines you love.
Class #4: In the Glass // Class #4 will uncover the wonders of wine characteristics such as acidity, tannin, and aging. Understanding these elements will reveal how they shape the texture, balance, and complexity of each glass, transforming your wine experience into a fun sensory journey.
Class #5: Bringing It All Together with Food // The series wraps up with a thoughtful [and delish!] food + wine pairing. In this final session, you'll apply your new knowledge as you sip + snack, seeing firsthand how a proper pairing can bring out the best in both food + wine.
Shar is a Level 2 Court of Masters Sommelier and has worked in the restaurant industry since she was 14 years old. She began her journey as a wine educator under the guidance of Jason Kallsen of Twin Cities Wine Education and went on to develop courses designed to help wine enthusiasts deepen their understanding and appreciation for all things wine. Shar also completed the Wine Professional Course at St. Paul College and was the first manager at The Vine Room when it opened in 2019. She recently re-joined The Vine Room and The Vine Shop as General Manager after spending several years living in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, where she ran the Direct-to-Consumer program for Left Coast Estate.
