Exploring Pottery

Adult / Art -
Adult Winter/Spring 2025

Adults at all levels of experience can develop and enhance their pottery skills. Those with some experience can learn more advanced techniques such as lids, handles, altering, pattern making and more. Nancy is enthusiastic about infecting others with her love for pottery and clay. Unless you are a student returning to the class, attendance is required for the first session. Bring an apron, towel and a basic set of pottery tools if you have them.

Instructor

Nancy Johnson

Nancy Johnson began learning pottery in 2005 when she began taking college courses. During her time at college she was a peer tutor in handbuilding pottery. She earned an AA and AFA at Anoka Ramsey Community College and a BA at the University of Minnesota graduating in 2013. Upon graduating she found a new place to practice ceramics at Hopkins Continuing Education at Eisenhower Community Center. When the instructor left in 2017, Nancy asked to become the Wednesday morning instructor. She has been helping other adults learn to make pottery since. In 2019 one of her ceramic pieces was selected for display in the Minnesota State Fair Fine Art Building during the fair.
