  • Pickleball Orientation

    Pickleball is all the rage and this 5 class series is intended for individuals who are interested in exploring this fast growing and exciting sport for all ages. The course will cater to all levels of athleticism and sports background with the goal of learning the rules & scoring, developing the basic skills, and understanding how to navigate opportunities to find other players of similar experience and skill level. Most importantly, you will not be intimidated or overwhelmed and you will have fun! You will learn: Strategies for avoiding injury Grip and paddle control techniques Etiquette Scoring and rules Basic skills including serve/return, ground strokes, the “soft” shot (also called “the dink")
  • Pop Art Portraits

    This 2-hour workshop offers students a brief overview of Pop Art, followed by instruction and materials to draw and paint an 8" x 8" acrylic portrait of themselves, a loved one, or a pet that they can take home with them. Students submit a photo to the instructor prior to class, which is resized and printed out for them. All materials are provided by the instructor. This class is open to adults and students who are 14+.
  • Posture & Osteoporosis Workshop: Building Better Bones

    Have you ever caught sight of your reflection in a window or mirror to see that your head leads the way? Or noticed that your shoulders and upper back are too rounded forward? You’ll learn simple techniques to improve posture and stand straighter. We’ll do exercises to help flatten the upper back, un-round shoulders and flatten your midsection. Learn how to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and how to re-gain bone mass. We’ll discuss the latest research findings on nutrition, minerals and trace minerals needed for bone health; foods that help and/or harm your bones and more. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will need a resistance band or tube for some of the exercises.

    Ever caught your own reflection to see that your head hangs too far forward, or your shoulders are too rounded, or you slump too much? You will learn how to correct common posture problems and learn an ‘Instant Alignment Technique’ that will have you standing straighter immediately. We’ll discuss easy to implement tips when at a computer, in a car or working out. There are many benefits to improving posture. And, the good news is no matter how long you may have had poor posture, it is NEVER TOO LATE to make improvements. Your clothes will fit better, too! You’ll need a resistance band for some exercises.

    Elder financial abuse, also known as financial exploitation, is the illegal or unauthorized use of an older adult’s funds or resources for the benefit of someone other than the older adult. This includes fraud, theft, and act of deception to gain control over a senior’s money or property. You will learn about common types of financial abuse, indicators, and signs, how to report and get help. This class is for older adults and their families.

    QuickBooks is the most popular software for managing the financial aspects of a small business. Learn how to set up a company in QuickBooks, add your customer data, vendor information, and banking accounts. Work with a mock company to create and customize invoices, pay bills, and enter credit card charges. Gain skills to create and modify all types of reports and customize the many features of this program. [The course does not include instruction for the online version of QuickBooks.]

    This is a 90 minute event to calm your mind, relax your body, and immerse yourself in beautiful healing sounds. Sound Baths are a deeply relaxing, rejuvenating, and meditative experience. They help with the release of blockages and restore energetic flow through the physical, energetic, mental, and emotional bodies, helping the nervous system entrain to the calming sound frequencies and allowing the whole being to relax more fully. They also stimulate healing and are known for relieving stress, reducing pain, and providing an increased sense of well-being. The general intention of a Sound Bath is to create a harmonious state in the participant as the sound clears and balances the human energy field. They can be a profound experience, and are excellent for opening the heart space. Most people describe the experience as cleansing or clearing, and very relaxing. During a Sound Bath, participants typically lie on a yoga mat, however, we always have chairs available for anyone who isn’t at ease laying on a yoga mat for the duration of the event.

  • Spanish Part 4

    This class will allow you to continue practicing and improving your Spanish skills at a higher level. We will review important concepts from Part 1,2,3. We will study the imperative and the subjunctive. Small homework will be assigned each week.
