Elementary Enrichment is for school age children in grades K- 5 in the evening and weekend hours. To provide opportunities where discovery, play, connections, and activities can happen year round.

Uncover Minnesota's profound contributions to the Civil War - the stories behind conserved battle flags, including a flag staff that survived the Battle of Gettysburg, and visit the Governor's Reception Room to view six iconic paintings depicting the bravery of Minnesota regiments on pivotal battles. After exploring this iconic building, enjoy lunch in St Paul at Buca di Beppo, included with the tour.
Comfortable coach bus departs Eisenhower Community Center 1001 Hwy 7 Hopkins, MN. Details about exact meeting location, departure and return times, and host contact information for day-of communication emailed the week of the tour.
NOTE: Due to tour company booking requirements, a minimum of 30 participants is needed to run this tour. Consider inviting a friend (or two) to join you!
CAPITOL CIVIL WAR TOUR ITINERARY
FRIDAY, MARCH 20, 2026
9:00 a.m. Leave from the Eisenhower Community Center, 1001 Hwy. 7, Hopkins, MN. The bus should park in front of door A.
9:45 a.m. Arrive at the first floor atrium. Guests should expect to walk or stand for the 90-minute tour. Mobility assistive devices will fit under the motor coach.
10:00 a.m. Capitol Civil War Tour: See famous art of Minnesota regiments depicted in battle, original battle flags, and the plaques and statues added over the years to remember Minnesota's role in the Civil War. Learn about the governors who, as young men, participated in some of the pivotal events of the war, and see a battle flagstaff that survived the Battle of Gettysburg.
11:30 a.m. Conclusion of tour. Take a few minutes to look around areas of the Capitol that are of special interest to you.
12:00 p.m. Leave the Capitol.
12:15 p.m. Arrive at Buca di Beppo in St. Paul. Pranzo Lunch Menu: Mixed Green Salad and Caesar Salad, Fresh-Baked House Bread, Spaghetti Marinara & Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Parmigian, Coffee, Tea, Soft Drink.
2:00 p.m. Leave St. Paul.
2:45 p.m. Estimated return time to Hopkins.
