Beginning & Continuing Pottery

Adult Winter/Spring 2025

This course for beginning pottery students as well as students returning for more experience and time in the pottery studio. With the beginners, we’ll go through the basics of using clay, learn hand-building techniques and then learn to throw pieces on the pottery wheel. Next steps will include finishing up your works and trimming pieces as needed to get them ready for bisque firing, glazing and final firing. Instructor will also be available to assist and coach continuing pottery students.

Class fee includes 25 lbs. of clay, glazes, and firing fee. Additional clay can be purchased from instructor. If you don't have the basic tools, rent them in class for $5.

Chris Frederiksen has been making pottery for nearly fifteen years and helping with classes at the Eisenhower Community Center for ten years, included Beginning Pottery and Empty Bowls. Chris says “Pottery has been a great outlet for my own creativity and I look forward to sharing the experience with you. You’ll be given an opportunity to learn techniques and skills in a relaxed fun environment, with a laugh or two along the way!”
