Hopkins Community Education

The Hopkins Alpine Community Education Program is offered through Hopkins Community Education. The purpose of the program is to provide alpine race training for students who do not quite meet the eligibility requirements for the Hopkins Alpine ski team. In addition, we are offering this training for those skiers in grades 5 and 6 who might be interested in joining the Hopkins Alpine Team when they become eligible in grade 7.

Additional cost for 10 Sunday tickets at Hyland $319 or purchase Hyland season pass for $474 (12 and older), $374 (11 and younger) by 10/31 to ski any day of the season at Hyland. These options would be purchased through Hyland Hills.

Program Requirements:

To participate in the Hopkins Alpine Ski program, skiers must be able to:

• Ride all lifts safely at Hyland including rope tows and chair lifts
• Ski North hills at Hyland with confidence
• Follow instructions to fully participate in the program's activities that are supervised by the coaches.
• Be able to ski independently at Hyland. E.g. Parents must feel ok with their kids skiing to the chalet on their own to warm up and use restrooms.

Race experience is not required. However participants must be able to turn and stop as required. Skiing in a wedge is ok.

Brand new skiers should first learn to ski through ski lessons and get some experience before joining a race program.

Skiers will need to provide their own ski equipment.
