Elementary Enrichment is for school age children in grades K- 5 in the evening and weekend hours. To provide opportunities where discovery, play, connections, and activities can happen year round.

Discover ‘Your Voice’ Through ‘Your Avatar’
Note: This class is designed for students in 2nd–6th grade and invites both parents and children to participate for an engaging experience.
This 90-minute Zoom session begins with students meeting their personalized avatars, created by DEEP Coalition, a global movement focused on mental health, personal development, and thought leadership.
Using their avatars, students will learn how to create a storyboard presentation that highlights their unique voices. They will begin by exploring the meaning of their names and use writing and creativity to express who they are as individuals. Through this process, students will reflect on what makes them unique and envision their potential for the future.
The class is designed to encourage youth to explore well-being, self-expression, and creativity. We believe that when children’s voices are seen, heard, and valued, they are better prepared for success in school, work, and life.
A parent or adult is required to be present during the class—or nearby—to assist with writing if needed.
A few days before class, the instructor will email families to request a current headshot/picture of the student. This photo will be used to create the avatars. A simple picture taken with a phone (waist up) works perfectly, or a traditional school photo may also be used.
When the Covid-19 pandemic began in early 2020, Katiya Xiong was moved to explore the use of avatars and emotional writing after witnessing her 6-year-old son struggle with learning and social connection. In response, she began creating personalized avatars to support children in expressing themselves.
Since then, she has crafted and shared over 100 unique avatars with children in her local community—through schools, libraries, and churches—connecting with parents and colleagues along the way. This experience ignited Katiya’s passion for youth empowerment, using avatars as a tool to help children explore their identities and support their mental well-being.
