Pickleball Orientation

Adult Winter/Spring 2024

Pickleball is all the rage and this 5 class series is intended for individuals who are interested in exploring this fast growing and exciting sport for all ages. The course will cater to all levels of athleticism and sports background with the goal of learning the rules & scoring, developing the basic skills, and understanding how to navigate opportunities to find other players of similar experience and skill level. Most importantly, you will not be intimidated or overwhelmed and you will have fun!

You will learn:

  • Strategies for avoiding injury
  • Grip and paddle control techniques
  • Etiquette
  • Scoring and rules
  • Basic skills including serve/return, ground strokes, the “soft” shot (also called “the dink")

Terri Osland

Terri Osland is a licensed teacher and coach who retired from Hopkins Public Schools after 32 years of service. She is a pickleball enthusiast who enjoys both the social aspect of the game and the opportunity to compete in both leagues and tournaments. Terri is a certified pickleball coach through the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) and has been teaching pickleball for Hopkins Community Education since 2022. In addition to teaching, Terri works remotely for Better Pickleball (www.betterpickleball.com) managing digital content.
