Build a computer bot to play head-to-head against other coders! Whether this is your first Code Championship event, or if you've been competing for years, this is the perfect way to explore the competitive coding world of Code Championship. No previous coding experience necessary. The Code Championship Series is a series of four tournaments in four weeks (it's ok to miss one or two). These tournaments will be hosted online using Google Meet and the Code Championship website. If you have a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox, no additional download is required. There is no better way to get a jump in spring than with our fun Young Rembrandts cartoon class. Your student will be exposed to the excitement of drawing and animating dinosaur expressions and funny anime characters. These drawings will delight our students as they learn how to draw dynamic figures and action-filled scenes. Your funny bone will be tickled when you see the humorous, floral-inspired personas created in our flower characters lesson. And we will have an enormous amount of fun as we draw cartoon animals of all shapes and sizes doing their favorite hobbies. No experienced needed. Have you ever wished drawing was easy? Well in this class, it couldn’t be easier! For each drawing project, students will learn a simple step-by-step method as they draw well-dressed llamas, cute kittens, adorable pandas, and more. Join us for an exciting introduction to flag football designed specifically for middle school girls! In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of flag football, including passing, catching, and basic offensive and defensive strategies, all in a supportive and empowering environment. Through skill-building drills and friendly scrimmages, girls will develop teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence as they have fun playing the game! There will be practices weekly, 3 game dates on Tuesdays in May, 2 free skills sessions, and an end of the year tournament hosted by MN Vikings on June 8th.

This FREE comprehensive course is designed to instruct participants in the skills and knowledge needed to become a lifeguard, Following completion of the course youth will be be available to be paid interns for Hopkins Community Ed. While attending the course candidates will learn how to recognize, prevent, and respond quickly to aquatic emergencies. The course also instructs participants in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and First Aid. Participants will receive certifications in the above - certifications will be presented upon completion of attending all class sessions, passing all written exams, water skills and test. Prerequisites: -Participant must be 15 years of age or older. • Ability to pass pretest. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs. Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds: starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive, feet first or head first to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to surface and swim 20 yards on back with both hands holding object, exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Certifications received upon completion of course objectives and passing score of 80 percent correct on course final written exams. Lifeguard, CPR-PR with AED and First Aid are valid for 2 years. Will need to renew certifications every two years. * Blended Learning Class: a link will be emailed one week prior to class beginning with online class curriculum, email address required.

Safeway has been teaching teens to drive in the Metro Area for over 50 years. Last year, Safeway instructed over 11,000 teen drivers. Safeway’s only focus is creating safe, responsible teen drivers. Its customized teen program emphasizes defensive driving through classroom and behind-the-wheel training. All of Safeway’s instructors are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, having met the State’s background checks and testing requirements. Classroom Instruction: Students are required to take 30 hours of classroom instruction. Students can start classes at age 14½, obtain their permit at age 15, and license at age 16. Classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction are not required after the age of 18. The enhanced classroom curriculum includes study guides, lecture with PowerPoint, worksheets, videos and interactive computer software. These classes prepare students for the Minnesota Permit Exam and more importantly, focus on critical behavior and attitude issues common to teen drivers. If a student needs to miss a lesson, they can make up that exact lesson through distance learning via Zoom or in-person at one of Safeway’s fixed locations. Behind-the-Wheel Instruction: Students must complete six hours of driving lessons with a Safeway instructor before taking the Minnesota Road Exam. Safeway’s lessons are divided into three, two-hour lessons. The lessons are one-on-one instruction with a responsible, professional Safeway driving instructor. Students can be picked up and dropped off at home, school or work. Safeway offers convenient online behind-the-wheel scheduling. The lessons are given on actual city streets, highways and freeways. It is recommended that students take their first lesson 6-8 weeks after receiving their permit. Lessons should be at least 30 days apart allowing for practice with parents in between lessons. Parent Involvement: Parents are their child’s primary driving instructor so it is critical to practice regularly with permitted drivers in all driving situations. Students are required to practice at least 50 hours (15 at night) and record the practice on a driving log. Safeway offers online Parent Classes. The class cost $10.00 and qualifies for a reduction in student practice hours. Important parent information will be sent home on the first day of class. Payment Plan: Pay $249 at registration for classroom instruction, then $160 directly to Safeway later for behind-the-wheel instruction.
