    Kick off the summer by creating a simple, yet eye-catching plant hanger that displays three natural or artificial plants. Hang it on a porch or shed or enjoy it in your home office or sunroom. A variety of subtle, colorful and whimsical canvas fabrics will be available for you to choose from. Basic sewing skills recommended. Bring supplies listed below: $25 supply fee paid to instructor on day of class.   • Cast Auditions for Hopkins Community Theatre Presents - Julius Caesar

    Hopkins Community Theatre is thrilled to announce its first production Julius Caesar. Here's what you need to know: Play: Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare Rehearsals: Start the week of June 3rd, Mondays-Thursdays 6pm-8pm (with a break for the Fourth of July holiday) Performances: July 19th, 20th, 26th, & 27th at 7:30pm in the High School Auditorium No experience necessary! We welcome individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels to join this exciting journey. About the Rehearsal Process: This production is a significant time commitment that comes with community education course credit, and requires rehearsals 4-5 times per week. Rehearsals will be held Monday-Thursday 6-9PM. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal, but participants will be expected to be available for each rehearsal unless they have listed it as a conflict. Roles Available: We welcome actors from high school age and up and all experience levels to audition - all roles are open. Whether you're a seasoned performer or new to the stage, we encourage you to come and audition for this exciting production. About Auditions: Be advised that you should arrive at least five minutes prior to your scheduled time to fill out necessary paperwork. If you cannot make these audition dates but would like to audition, email hopkinscommunitytheatre@gmail.com. Auditions will be 10-minute individual calls. Actors are encouraged to prepare, or be familiar with, one classical monologue, 2-4 minutes long, fully. If you are unable to prepare a monologue, sides will be provided.     When your child has a Smartphone there are key things you should know in order to keep them safe and secure. In this class you’ll understand recommended safety settings on popular social media apps, parental apps for your child’s Smartphone, and more! We simplify this complicated technology so that you and your child can use the phone safely without worry. *Please note that the class recording will be sent to all registered students so that they do not have to attend at the exact designated time. Follow-up support is also included from the instructor and students are encouraged to reach out with questions at any time before or after the class has concluded.
  • Charm School

    Charm School will emphasize respect for others and teach children manners and etiquette with a fun, hands-on approach. Your child will learn social etiquette, proper introductions and fine dining skills. Topics to be covered will include: proper behavior at the table, conversation skills, polite behavior in public, and public speaking. Newly learned skills will be practiced with a light snack during camp.

    Participants will learn the responsibilities of being a prepared, safe, responsible, and professional babysitter. Topics include supervision, behavior guidance, proper feeding and diapering techniques, personal safety, basic first aid, medical emergencies, fire, and kitchen safety. Dolls, bottles, and diaper supplies will be provided at class for fun hands-on participation. This class is developed by the Health & Safety Institute and approved by the American Pediatrics Association. Class participants receive a certification card and a downloadable handbook.

  • Code Championship Tournament Series | Virtual Computer Coding Competition

    Build a computer bot to play head-to-head against other coders! Whether this is your first Code Championship event, or if you've been competing for years, this is the perfect way to explore the competitive coding world of Code Championship. No previous coding experience necessary. The Code Championship Series is a series of four tournaments in four weeks (it's ok to miss one or two). These tournaments will be hosted online using Google Meet and the Code Championship website. If you have a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox, no additional download is required.     Comedy Writing: How to Be Funny on Paper and Stage

    Whether you need to make a dull work presentation more lively, mix laughter with learning in the classroom, or ultimately want to write for print/production or perform your own stand up routine, this fast-paced session will show you how to apply humor to all aspects of your life. You will learn the anatomy a joke, how to use your powers of observation to sharpen your wit, write different types of jokes, and use humor to entertain and influence people. Informative handouts for future use are included in class fee. The instructor LeeAnne Krusemark is a former stand-up comedian at places like The Laugh Factory in Hollywood, current author and editor, and a nationwide Professor of Publishing at higher learning institutions, including Harvard Adult Education. The webinar login information will be emailed the day before class.
