  • Beginning Sewing

    This is for those who have little or no experience at a sewing machine. We begin with learning the parts of the sewing machine and then practice sewing straight and curved lines. We will learn about choosing fabric and patterns. In Session 1 (2 hours) we will make a pillow case. Students will be required to provide fabric and a designated pattern for Session 2 (3 hours). In Session 2, we will learn about using patterns and will cut out the fabric and construct a pair of leisure pants. Students are then on their way to sewing fashions and accessories of their own creation.

    Watercolor is a relatively easy and inexpensive way to get started as a painter. Geared toward those with no or little prior experience, we'll be learning color theory (values, mixing), special effects you can achieve, and the basics of paints and brushes. Preprinted watercolor paper templates will be provided by the instructor.

  • Bicycle Repair and Maintenance 2 Hour Class

    Basic bike set up, identification, shifting adjustments, brake adjustments, how to safety check your bike, preparing a bike for selling, as well as many other helpful tips & tricks. Time will be available to fix many of the mechanical issues you are facing. Bringing in a bike is encouraged. Please bring a bike. Great value if you factor in a basic tune up!! Class is open for ages 16+ Each class goes through a checklist of learning. Once a level is completed the learner moves on to the next level and corresponding checklist. Complete levels and earn equipment that will help you with potential bicycle issues.

Major focus will be on identification of bicycle parts, trailside repair, shifting adjustments, brake adjustments, chain maintenance, how to repair/replace a tube (flat tire), how to safety check your bike. We will also learn basic wheel truing, replacing a chain, how to replace brake and shifting cables. Please bring a bike. Especially one that need work! Great value if you factor in a tune up!!     Hopkins Community Theatre is thrilled to announce its first production Julius Caesar. Here's what you need to know: Play: Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare Rehearsals: Start the week of June 3rd, Mondays-Thursdays 6pm-8pm (with a break for the Fourth of July holiday) Performances: July 19th, 20th, 26th, & 27th at 7:30pm in the High School Auditorium Commitment Fee: $20 (for cast members only) No experience necessary! We welcome individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels to join this exciting journey. About the Rehearsal Process: This production is a significant time commitment that comes with community education course credit, and requires rehearsals 4-5 times per week. Rehearsals will be held Monday-Thursday 6-9PM. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal, but participants will be expected to be available for each rehearsal unless they have listed it as a conflict. Roles Available: We welcome actors from high school age and up and all experience levels to audition - all roles are open. Whether you're a seasoned performer or new to the stage, we encourage you to come and audition for this exciting production. About Auditions: Be advised that you should arrive at least five minutes prior to your scheduled time to fill out necessary paperwork.
