Art of Indian Cooking II
Continue the journey to India with Chef Vanita. We'll make: Baked Samosas, Spiced Pilau Rice, and Shrikhand. Bring containers to take food home.
Vanita is a native of India, born in Africa, who grew up in England, and has lived in Minnesota since 1987. Being the youngest of six siblings, it was never easy for her to get her hands in the kitchen, but she took every opportunity to learn how to cook. She loves to create new recipes and find ways to reduce fat without foregoing flavor.
Vanita is a busy, working mom of three boys and has had to learn ways to prepare healthy, delicious meals fast.
She believes in "hands-on" experience. Not only will students go home with knowledge of various spices and how to utilize them in different recipes, but they will also be able to prepare a full meal.
Besides working, cooking, attending soccer games, and band concerts, Vanita loves to travel (something she hasn't been able to do for a long time), walk, read, and try to help as much as she can in the community by volunteering.
