Watercolor Foundation: An Indepth Introduction

Adult / Art -
Adult Summer 2022

This in depth course will take you from total beginner to feeling comfortable enough around the medium to create your own original pieces. Through exercises, demonstrations, and feedback sessions, you will be immersed in watercolor painting ideas that will help you develop your own painting approach.

We will cover a range of topics from knowing your materials, to how to make washes and control the water on the page, to layering and glazing, negative space and masking to tone, color and composition. The different exercises will aid you as we build to painting on location and creating more dynamic art pieces.

All levels welcome.

The Instructor, Jun-Pierre Shiozawa, currently lives in Nice, France and is excited for the opportunity to teach watercolor workshops at Hopkins Center for the Arts during his summer travels to the Twin Cities. Jun-Pierre Shiozawa

I have been teaching painting watercolor for twelve years now. I worked at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts in Paros, Greece for seven years teaching painting and drawing. Since then I have lead intensive workshops which have been where I created a structure to teach clear watercolor education mixed with excursions and painting on location experiences. I currently teach online through in partnership with Etchr Lab (etchrlab.com), where I am one of their select Resident Artists.

I currently live in Nice, France and am excited for the opportunity to teach at Hopkins Center for the Arts during my summer travels to Minnesota.
